Read the guideStaying in Giraudel puts your evenings in a village setting and leaves your days open for exploring. Start locally, then plan separate outings for the rainforest and the coast.

01 / TWIN FALLS & RAINFOREST
Allow roughly 35–50 minutes by car
Two waterfalls tumble down a green valley outside Trafalgar village. A forest walk leads to a viewing area — an inviting first introduction to Dominica’s rainforest landscape.
Wear shoes with grip and carry a light rain layer. Start with the established viewing area; ask a local guide before venturing toward the pools or slippery boulders.

02 / A FULL-DAY VOLCANIC ADVENTURE
Allow roughly 40–60 minutes to the Laudat trailhead
The Boiling Lake route reaches deep into Dominica’s volcanic interior. Forest, steep terrain, and the Valley of Desolation make this a demanding hiking day, with a steaming lake as the destination.
Arrange an experienced local guide and confirm trail conditions before setting out. Allow a full day for the hike, start early, and bring food, water, and rain protection. Never enter the lake.

03 / VOLCANIC BUBBLES & REEF LIFE
Allow roughly 25–40 minutes by car
Off the southwest coast, underwater volcanic vents send streams of bubbles toward the surface. The rocky shoreline leads to a reef visited by snorkelers and divers seeking one of Dominica’s most distinctive marine experiences.
Check sea conditions with a local operator. A guided snorkel is a good introduction. Bring water shoes for the rocky entry and avoid standing on or touching the reef.

04 / SEE THE ISLAND ON FOOT
Allow roughly 25–45 minutes to a Roseau Valley access point
The Waitukubuli National Trail crosses Dominica in 14 segments. Plan one section around your fitness, daylight, and current conditions, rather than treating the whole trail as a single day outing.
Ask which sections are open and maintained. Arrange transport for both ends of your walk, carry water, and use a local guide for unfamiliar sections. Drive time depends on your chosen start point.

05 / A DIFFERENT VIEW OF THE ISLAND
Allow roughly 20–35 minutes to Roseau-area departures
Head onto the Caribbean Sea with a local operator for the chance to see sperm whales and dolphins. The island’s steep coastline is a memorable backdrop even between sightings. Wildlife encounters are never guaranteed.
Confirm the exact departure point, sailing time, weather policy, and accessibility with your operator. Bring sun protection and water, and choose a responsible tour that respects wildlife.

06 / LISTEN, LEARN & CONNECT
Allow roughly 90–120 minutes to Salybia by car
Visit the Kalinago Territory on Dominica’s Atlantic side to learn from the island’s Indigenous community. Kalinago Barana Autê celebrates living heritage through local knowledge, traditional crafts, and guided cultural experiences.
Arrange your visit with the community or a local guide. Ask before photographing people or cultural activities, make time to listen, and support local makers by purchasing directly.
